Eat Our Food

We serve our local community by attending Decorah Farmers Market, rain or shine, cold or hot, with our produce and meat. We rely on eaters who choose to participate in place-based, seasonal eating by showing up at farmers market.

We also have several options for committing to eat our food each year. Our vegetable CSA customers receive the best of our in-season produce weekly, bi-weekly, or at our farmers market stand. For a list of vegetables you might receive, see below! Our meat customers have access to full choice of cuts from whole or half hogs or lambs, all raised regeneratively on pasture. When you buy in bulk, you get a discount! Contact us for more information, and see below for retail prices.

If you have questions about what’s in season, or you want to place an order, contact us at humblehandsharvest@gmail.com.

The nature of Community Supported Agriculture, in which you, the eaters, share some risk with the farmers, means that there are no guarantees about specific vegetables being in your boxes or at the market stand in specific weeks. You get the opportunity to celebrate whatever the seasons bring: we follow the vegetables’ timing. So, while we can’t promise what will be in your box the second week of August, we can share with you a list of what is in our crop plan:

Roots like carrots, beets, turnips, radishes, parsnips, rutabagas, and celeriac; Greens like lettuce, bok choy, kale, Swiss chard, and spinach; Brassicas like broccoli, cabbage, kohlrabi, and cauliflower; Nightshades like tomatoes, peppers, potatoes, and eggplant; Cucurbits like squash, zucchini, melons, and cucumbers; Legumes like snap peas and green beans; Allia like garlic, onions, scallions, and leeks

Pastured Pork

We raise feeder pigs rotationally. In addition to fresh pasture, they’re fed organic grain and vegetable scraps galore. They root around in the mud, take naps in the shade, and generally lead admirable lives that end with delicious food in the freezer… including:

Grass-fed and -finished Certified Organic Lamb

Our sheep flock has been with Hannah since 2014, and we move them daily, sometimes multiple times a day, to fresh grass on the farm during the growing season. Their role on the farm is not only to produce delicious and healthy meat, but to improve the soil’s health with their grazing and manuring.
